A series of violent attacks have been reported in Bishkek, the capital city of Kyrgyzstan, for a couple of days. Foreign students from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and other countries are subject to the violence.
According to some reports, a fight had erupted between Egyptian and Kyrgyz students which went viral social media. Kyrgyz societies went on to target Asians based of “skin color“. Many of violent videos have sparked panic on the internet. Foreign Assemblies of Pakistan and India have issued warnings to the students and furthermore helpline numbers for local embassies.
Kyrgyzstan is the home of medical students all across the world. Students tend to visit that Central Asian country which not just offers quality education but without restrictions as well. Like to do MBBS in Pakistan, a student is bound to pass MDCAT (Medical & Dental College Entry Test), meet the merit to avail the available seats, and then pay the demanded fees. In India, the situation is even worse. There are many times lesser seats available than the students willing to become doctor forcing the young minds to either move abroad or choose any other profession.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister has expressed his opinions on X (Twitter):
Kyrgyz authority have assured that necessary measures will be taken to control the situation as soon as possible. They have claimed that some negative/propaganda social media accounts from India are responsible for the chaos. Upcoming General Elections in India might stand a reason behind the anti-Muslim voices raised by the ruling RSS/BJP.
It is also been reported that semester elections in some colleges/universities have been postponed because of the violent wave. So far, many injuries have been reported . Exact number and accurate reasons might later get disclose by authorities since the matter is under investigation.
